Our group is interested in the biology and pathogenicity of herpesviruses including human cytomegalovirus (CMV). We are employing state-of-the-art molecular and cellular tools to investigate how these ubiquitous pathogens interact with their host cells to cause morbidity and mortality in the human population. Our work aims at discovering new principles of virus-host interaction, but we are also actively involved in translating our basic research results into innovative antiviral intervention strategies that may prevent or cure herpesvirus-related diseases in the future.
